5 Top Traffic Sources to Build Your List | How to Start a Membership ...

Whether you manage a non-profit or own your own business you know how important it is to the health of your organization to have a vibrant and growing email list.

Huge email lists, can be bought or inherited but most commonly they are collected the old-fashioned way ? one at a time.

The website or ?vehicle? for collecting emails is known as a ?squeeze page?.

It?s called a ?squeeze? page because usually the only way to exit the page once you are on it, is to enter your email address and ?click? the ?submit? button ? thus? the page is ?squeezing? you into giving up your email address.

The squeeze page, is the true blue friend of anyone building a list, but they don?t work alone, meaning you can?t put them online and hope people will just find them and sign-up to your list.

To be successful you need to drive traffic to your squeeze page, and there are several ways to do this.

Here, we will cover five top traffic sources, which have generated a lot of success this year.

(This is in no particular order because one is not necessarily better than another in all scenarios.)

#1 Paid-For Ads, On High Ranking Websites

Paid-for or sponsored links are most commonly purchased through Bing?s ad-center or Google?s Adsense. This is also known as PPC advertising. The PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click as each click on your ad will require you to pay more.

This is considered one of the fastest but most expensive methods for generating traffic and building your list.

However, you must pay careful attention to the targeting parameters, and how your ad is written, if you only want to pay for and attract certain types of people to your squeeze page.??

#2 Banner Ads

Banner ads are quite similar to PPC ads, only that generally you pay one fee, which covers the cost of hosting your banner ad on some website for specific time-period.

Typically, a 125 by 125 ad placed on the sidebar of a website can be an economical method ? able to send laser targeted traffic to your squeeze page.

However, special care in the creation of your banner and in the choice of sites your banner will appear can make a huge difference in how effectively they will perform.

Banner ads also have another obstacle to overcome, that being ?banner blindness? so it may behoove you to get an experienced graphic designer to create it for you.

#3 Solo Ads

A solo ad is simply a marketing term for getting someone that already has an email list and paying them to send your squeeze page offer to their subscribers.

Non-profit organizations may accept trading ads, however entrepreneurs may need to find a Joint Venture partner if they want to trade ads. You can find people to trade with in the JV section of the Warrior Forum (WarriorForum.com) or at Safe-Swap (Safe-Swap.com).

It?s easy to find people with huge, highly targeted lists. How much the list owner believes your ad will effect the values of his or her list, how big the list is, and how targeted it is will all come into play when buying or trading solo ads.

Another consideration is how much more clout the ad is worth because when it?s sent via email from another party it essentially caries the recommendation of the list owner!?

#4? Directory of Ezines

The directory of ezines has recently been updated and we?ve been members of it for many years.? There you can find a lot of ezine editors that will let you send a solo ad to their lists (usually large lists) for less than half the price traditional solo ads cost. Of course, with ezines you?ll have to share space with other solo ads. You can think of it as buying an ad in a traditional magazine. You?ll lose some of the direct ?recommendation? mojo you?d get from a traditional solo ad, but if you can get a compelling image into an ezine you may do quite well!

#5 Pinterest

Pinterest is the new social media kid on the block. It really exploded this year in popularity. If you can create interesting images that beg to be shared, then Pinterest can drive a strong torrent of traffic to your squeeze page.

You?d simply create the ?sharable images? and post them on your Pinterest board attached to your website link.

As Pinterest is a social-media website, it will behoove you to also interact with the Pinterest community by sharing and re-pining, liking and commenting on other Pinterest member?s images and pin-boards!

#5 Your Signature and Profile Pages

Think of how many people you come into contact with throughout the day through email and social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Not to mention, you have no idea how many times an email you have sent once, will be forwarded.

Every one of these forms of communication allows you to permanently affix a link to your squeeze page.

But, no-matter what methods you use to drive traffic to your squeeze page the #1 factor that will contribute to it?s success still resides in the quality of your squeeze page itself!?

The only problem with making all those squeeze pages to build your lists up?

It?s super time consuming to do it all! Plus you need to be technical savvy to figure out all the HTML formatting, graphic placement, testing links, and fighting to integrate your auto-responder code?into pages and then putting it all together so a sales flow works properly after they sign up from your page.

The solution?

Wall Street Journal remains No. 1 US newspaper

NEW YORK (AP) ? U.S. newspaper circulation was almost unchanged in the six months that ended in September as publications continued to make gains in digital editions, according to data from a media industry group.

Average daily circulation for print and digital editions combined fell 0.2 percent for the 613 newspapers included in the semiannual study by the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Sunday circulation for the 528 newspapers in Tuesday's report increased 0.6 percent.

The Wall Street Journal kept its position as the No. 1 newspaper. Its average circulation grew 9.4 percent to 2.3 million, largely because more readers are paying to read content on its website and mobile devices. Digital circulation grew about 257,000 from a year ago, more than making up for a loss of nearly 60,000 in print.

USA Today was second at 1.7 million, down 3.9 percent. USA Today, which is owned by Gannett Co., remained the No. 1 print newspaper, with a higher circulation than the Journal after digital editions are excluded. Unlike the Journal, USA Today doesn't charge for website access. Its digital circulation is limited to other products, such as subscriptions on Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle.

The New York Times followed at 1.6 million, a 40 percent increase. More than half of the Times' circulation was for digital editions, including subscriptions for full access to the Times' website and mobile apps. The company attributed the gains to the growing popularity of its digital editions and to new rules giving publications more flexibility to count as multiple subscriptions the same person's usage on multiple outlets, such as the website and a Kindle.

The Times was the leading Sunday newspaper, with a circulation of 2.1 million. The Journal and USA Today do not have Sunday editions.

Circulation numbers affect advertising rates at newspapers, particularly for printed editions. Print advertising revenue has been declining in recent years as readers and advertisers shift to the Internet. The economic downturn accelerated the decline. Some newspapers have seen growth in digital ad revenue, but it hasn't been enough to offset the losses in print advertising.

Weekly Climate and Energy News Roundup | Watts Up With That?

Brought to You by SEPP (www.SEPP.org) The Science and Environmental Policy Project

###################################################

Quote of the Week: ?It is in the admission of ignorance and the admission of uncertainty that there is a hope for the continuous motion of human beings in some direction that doesn?t get confined, permanently blocked, as it has so many times before in various periods in the history of man.? Richard Feynman [H/t Roger Cohen]

Number of the Week: 70%

THIS WEEK:

By Ken Haapala, Executive Vice President, Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP)

APS: In 2007 the American Physical Society (APS) issued an absolutist statement on Climate Change that greatly disturbed a number of its senior fellows. In 2009, about 300 physicists petitioned the APS petitioned to modify the statement. The statement was not modified, but augmented with a lengthy addition. The turmoil continues. Roger Cohen, a Fellow of the Society has posted on the web site of Anthony Watts his expression of dissatisfaction with the APS. This has led to an exchange with Warren S. Warren. The exchange is an excellent read on what is wrong when a few in a science society take an absolutist position concerning a subject that requires open investigation and debate. Please see links under APS Frontline.

******************

PBS Frontline: The Public Broadcasting System aired a special on its ?Frontline? series titled ?Climate of Doubt.? The first part consisted of interviews and clips of those who express skepticism to the view that human emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG), especially carbon dioxide (CO2), are causing unprecedented and dangerous global warming. This was followed by interviews with alarmists who were presented as the mainstream scientists. Certainly the alarmists are mainstream in that they are the ones who receive extensive government support. Later, in private comments, Fred Singer thought his interview was well presented, especially when compared with presentations in the past. The views of others varied. Roy Spencer was disturbed because part of his head and comments were used in the trailer, but he was not interviewed for the program.

Perhaps more revealing of the entire episode was a Live Chat on Thursday afternoon with those who organized the program. They were the film?s producer, Catherine Upin, the correspondent, John Hockenberry, and the ?resident expert?, Elizabeth Kolbert, of the New Yorker. Prior to the chat, SEPP submitted three questions on topics covered. One was the frequently cited 97 to 98% percent of climate scientists ?consensus? claims, which are based on extensively manipulated of opinion polls, making the results trivial. The second was on the recent statement from HadCRU that there has been no appreciable increase in temperatures for 16 years, a period in which the models project an increase of about 0.3 deg C (over 0.5 deg F). What would it take for journalists to realize there are major problems with the climate models and the 90 to 99% certainty is based on opinion not rigorous science? The third question focused on the constant, largely unsubstantiated claims that oil companies are funding skeptics and the failure of journalists to report the extent of government funding of the alarmists.

During the Live Chat, SEPP submitted four comments. One on the burden of proof ? climate alarmists have not performed adequate testing of a hypothesis on CO2 caused global warming. A second challenging a statement that the poll appearing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science was peer reviewed, but it is trivial nonetheless. The third comment challenged the ?resident expert? Elizabeth Kolbert who stated: ?A very interesting look at the connections between the tobacco industry and the climate ?skeptic? industry can be found in the book Merchants of Doubt.? The response challenged Ms. Kolbert to read and comment on Fred Singer?s rebuttal to this book?s ad hominem attacks.

But most revealing was a comment by correspondent John Hockenberry:

?The saddest thing about this story is that we heard mostly absolute certainty and dismissive confidence among our skeptic friends while it was our scientist friends were quick to say that doubt is how science is conducted, people questioning each other?s work all the time. The doubt of the scientists was always real but was always about how much we know about the planet and need to know not about the trend of global warming.

Their search for truth and quest to challenge each other?s findings was exploited as ?debate? and ?uncertainty? by people in the political world. In some ways the scientists didn?t have a chance in this battle? but that is my personal opinion and some of our scientists would not have agreed with me.?

To which SEPP inquired: did you ever ask the climate establishment scientists why the IPCC declared a 90 to 99% certainty in the models and their findings? The 90 to 99% certainty was in the EPA endangerment finding and was accepted by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Given the slow pace, and the long pauses in the program, it was obvious tough questions of these global warming / climate change expert journalists would not be aired. Also, it was apparent the opinion polls weigh heavily on these expert journalists.

The saddest thing about this story is the blatant irresponsibility of PBS to understand the story. Please see links under PBS Frontline.

ADDENDUM: Months ago Patrick Michaels announced he and a few collogues are preparing a point by point rebuttal to the report by the US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP): Global Climate Change Impacts in the US (2009). Along with the 2007 report be the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and a report by National Research Council, the USGCRP report provide the foundation for the EPA questionable finding that GHG, particularly CO2, emissions endanger human life and welfare. Now alarmists are outraged that the advance copies of the new report, ADDENDUM: Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States looks like the previous report. The CATO imprint on the back cover is apparently overlooked by the alarmists. Please see link under Challenging the Orthodoxy.

US Overtaking Saudi Arabia in Oil? Some analysts are projecting that the US will overtake Saudi Arabia in oil production in the near future ? around 2020. Others object to these statements stating they are based on statistical sleights of hand. Whether or not the US (or North America) overtakes Saudi Arabia is not that important. What is important is that thanks to modern hydraulic fracturing of dense shale and offshore drilling (whenever permitted), oil production in the US is expanding greatly. Since production costs in the US remain high, there is doubt if the era of ?cheap oil? will return in the near future. Oil is traded on the global market, and US production influences that market but does not determine it. The lower cost producers that have significant capability of expanding are more influential determinants, such as Saudi Arabia.

Some economists are questioning the belief that affordable energy is vital for economic growth. Certainly, affordable energy is not a sufficient condition for economic growth. That is, other conditions, or components, are needed. For example, oil is heavily subsidized in Egypt and Iran, but they are not experiencing significant growth. But under proper conditions, affordable energy can promote growth. For example, affordable energy is vital to modern agriculture. Modern fertilizers need oil or natural gas feedstock. Areas of the US where natural gas is low cost and appears to be affordable for a long term are experiencing significant growth, which the country as a whole is not.

External costs are other complications added by economists to the issue. Sometimes these are real, such as in cities in the US in the 20s. But, economic growth allowed the country to devote significant resources to clean up these external costs. Now, in the US external costs are largely exaggerated, such as by the EPA. Please see links Energy Issues ? US and Articles # 2 and # 3.

EPA on the Verge: A number of commentators, including Fred Singer, are expressing concern about the plans of EPA immediately after the election on November 6. It is clear that EPA has held back proposed regulations that are highly controversial. Please see Article #1, #3 and #5, and links under EPA and other Regulators on the March

******************

Oh? Mann: Michael Mann has sued the National Review Online and the Competitive Enterprise Institute for defamation and ?intentional infliction of emotional distress.? (from the Washington Post.). The complaint states that: ?? Mr. Man and his colleagues were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.? and ?? personal defamation of a Nobel prize recipient.?

The award was given to the IPCC, not personally to Mr. Mann, who was a participant in the IPCC. Some may consider the distinction to be just a technicality, just as some consider the body of research on climate history that was buried Mr. Mann?s hockey-stick as just a technicality. Mr. Mann may find that he will face questions that are a bit more strident than asked by the Penn State officials who he claims exonerated his research. Please see links under Oh Mann!

******************

Storm?s A?coming: According to forecasts, the Mid-Atlantic States are about to be hit by a large storm with low category 1 hurricane winds. (Category 1 wind speed 75?95 mph (65?82 kts, 33?42 m/s), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffir%E2%80%93Simpson_Hurricane_Scale). The moon is almost full, so tidal areas may experience a strong storm surge on top of spring (flood) tides which could result in significant coastal erosion and flooding. Already some alarmists are associating the storm with global warming / climate change. Please see links under Changing Weather and Below the Bottoms Line.

******************

Amplifications and Corrections: Tom Sheahen correctly stated that the conversion for PgC/yr to Billions of tonnes of CO2 per year is by multiplying by 3.67. TWTW left out the Billions.

Clyde Spencer correctly suggested that TWTW should not use the term ocean acidity unless the pH is actually below 7. This will be followed to the extent possible.

Norman Kalmanovitch pointed out that the period of no warming in the HadCRU data, as stated in the article by David Rose, started in the year the Kyoto Protocol became effective, 1997. The goal of the Protocol was to stop global warming and it did! If one jumps to causal relationships, one could state the Kyoto Protocol was the most effective international agreement ever.

TWTW incorrectly quoted Angeline Purdy of the Department of Justice as stating: ?The models have been validated.? The quote came from imperfect personal notes. A subsequent check of the transcript (which is not available on the web) failed to reveal such a direct statement. Ms. Purdy argued that the models have been validated, at length, but did not make such as simple statement. TWTW will endeavor not to make such a mistake in the future.

******************

Number of the Week: 70%. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, in the US the cost of natural gas is about 70% of the cost of manufacturing nitrogen fertilizer. As the cost of this component comes down, its percentage share will come down as well.

Commissioners Hedegaard and Oettinger admitted the proposals were ?not perfect? but emphasised the 5% cap on food-based biofuels that did make it into the final proposal. This is supposed to cap conventional biofuel production at current levels. The problem is that this cap is not really a cap, at least not on the production of these biofuels. It is a reporting cap under the EU?s renewable energy directive: member states will only be able to use (and subsidise) food-based biofuels to meet half of a 10% target for renewable energy in transport by 2020.

Why Is This Supercomputer So Superfast?

Cray employees put the finishing touches on Titan at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. The supercomputer may be the world's fastest. It's designed to do 20 petaflops — or 20,000 trillion calculations — each second. It consumes enough electricity to power a small city of 9,000 people.

The world's fastest supercomputers have come back to the U.S. In June, the title was claimed by a machine named Sequoia at Lawrence Livermore Labs. Monday, at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, what could be an even faster computer comes online. It's called Titan and it would not have been possible were it not for the massive market for video games.

The first thing you notice when you visit Titan is the noise. The room reminds me of a 1980s-era Kmart ? but much louder. The room is very large, about a half acre. Big stainless steel pipes help keep Titan cool. The pipes have been repurposed from the dairy industry, which is not surprising considering that Cray, the company that built the computer, is based in Wisconsin. Cray built special fans to cool each cabinet. The fans are so powerful the floor in the room vibrates.

All of this complicated engineering is in the service of speed.

Titan is quite possibly the fastest computer in the world. We won't know for sure for a few weeks, but Titan is designed to do more than 20,000 trillion calculations a second.

That's faster than half a million laptops. But it's not cheap. This machine cost $100 million. Its electric bill will total $9 million a year. So what makes all this computing worth the price?

"It gives us more fidelity," says Buddy Bland, who runs the leadership computing facility at Oak Ridge. "We're trying to simulate the real world, the physical world, on these supercomputers. And if you think of them, they're really a time machine that [lets] us look into the future and understand what's going to happen."

Higher fidelity and higher-resolution models mean scientists can begin to predict things like climate change locally and regionally.

"At the high resolution things like hurricanes and typhoons actually start to show up that never show up when you run the exact same simulation at just a lower resolution," Bland says. "That's an important outcome that policymakers need to know about."

Researchers will compete for computing time on this machine. It will be used to model everything from biochemistry to black holes to nuclear reactors.

"My group is interested in understanding the molecules of life and we also want to understand how they wiggle about," says Jeremy Smith, a biophysicist at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

He hopes that by screening libraries of small proteins against known receptor sites his team could find new drugs for Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer. "Until now we've been able to do that with a few thousand small molecules, but with the new upgraded supercomputer we'll be able to do tens of millions of these molecules," he says.

And Smith fantasizes about an even faster machine ? one that could screen for side effects, too. But there is a problem. In the past decade the traditional methods of making supercomputers faster hit a wall ? the power wall, Bland says.

He says for years you made microchips speedier by giving them more electricity. But Bland says there's just not enough cheap electricity to power the kinds of computers scientists like Smith dream about ? one that's 50 times faster than Titan.

"If we used today's technology it would take two gigawatts ? it would take two nuclear power plants to power it," Bland says.

So over the last few years supercomputing engineers have found inspiration in an unlikely place ? video games.

In today's games the graphics are intense ? virtual water reflects and refracts virtual light. The rules of physics apply and dozens of people can play these games together.

"Every object in that game is actually being modeled in 3-D," says Sumit Gupta, who runs accelerated computing at Nvidia, a company that makes chips designed for gamers. He says modern games require immensely complex calculations. "And you have to do billions and trillions of them per second," he says.

Bland and Gupta say chips built for games consume much less power.

And, Bland explains, "it turns out the types of calculations that they do to make those beautiful visualizations are very similar to the types of calculations we need to do to, for example, do climate simulation."

That's kind of the way conventional computer chips work ? if you want to go faster you have to step on the gas. Graphics chips are different. They work in parallel.

"A pretty simple analogy that I always use is that when [my wife and I] go to the grocery store, we sit in the car, we drive a certain path and we reach the grocery store," Gupta says. "Once we get to the grocery store, my wife and I can simultaneously go through the aisles picking up stuff."

That's how gaming chips go faster.

Today video games are a $30 billion industry. And it's pushing graphic chip designers to build faster and faster chips. Scientific supercomputers are hitching a ride, which is why Gupta says we should all let our kids play those video games.

"Absolutely ? except my kids," he says, laughing.

Soda consumption, screen time, team sports at school influence students' weight

Soda consumption, TV and video/computer games, and the frequency of meals heavily influenced students' weight in an Indiana University study that examined the impact of a school-based obesity intervention program over an 18-month period.

More soda consumption and screen time meant students were more likely to be overweight or to gain weight. The more frequently students ate meals each day, the less likely they were to stay overweight or gain weight during the study, which examined the Healthy, Energetic, Ready, Outstanding, Enthusiastic Schools program.

Dong-Chul Seo, associate professor in the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, said participation in team sports also contributed to students' ability to achieve a healthy weight.

"Schools and families may be able to successfully focus on these modifiable risk factors, decreasing the burden of childhood obesity," he said.

HEROES, implemented by schools in southern Indiana, northwestern Kentucky and southeastern Illinois, is sponsored by the Welborn Baptist Foundation and based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Coordinated School Health Model. HEROES is intended to enhance schoolwide wellness culture through changes in physical education, nutrition, the physical environment, health promotion efforts for school staff and family, and community involvement. Researchers from IU's School of Public Health-Bloomington and the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community have been evaluating the HEROES initiative for the past four years.

"Predictors for Persistent Overweight, Deteriorated Weight and Improved Weight Status During 18 Months in a School-Based Longitudinal Cohort" involved 5,309 students at 11 schools.

Seo said the findings confirm the connection between higher levels of soda consumption and persistent overweight and deteriorating weight status, and they support the recent and controversial New York City ban on sales of supersized soda and other sweetened beverages.

The finding about the relationship between the number of meals students eat daily and their weight contributes to a scant amount of evidence in this area.

"Thus, encouraging students to maintain a regular meal pattern with at least three meals a day appears to be a good strategy to help students achieve healthy weight," Seo said.

The research found that the overall socio-economic status of a school had an impact on students. Those attending schools with lower socio-economic status were more likely to be overweight or to gain weight during the study period. This could reflect the greater opportunities students have for nutritious food offerings and physical activity at schools with high socio-economic status, Seo said, or it could reflect peer influence.

Seo will discuss this study with Mindy King at 6:15 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Oct. 30. Co-authors are King and Danielle Neukam, with the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at IU; Nayoung Kim, IU School of Public Health-Bloomington; and Rhonda Meade, Welborn Baptist Foundation.

da:ns Fest 2012! Notion: Dance Fiction! Oppa Frankenstein! ? For ...

Choy Ka Fai doing the Roboto with someone who's obviously not Joavien Ng, for a pre: Notion: Dance Fiction performance somewhere else. Photo courtesy of The Esplanade.

Earlier this afternoon, Choy Ka Fai stuck some pads on my right arm and left cheek and let rip a few thousand bolts of electricity.

I?m exaggerating of course. It was only a slight electrical jolt, but it was enough to make my arm contort involuntarily. And my face is still twitching ever so slightly. I hope the lady in the bus didn?t think I was coming on to her.

But at least I can say that for less than a minute, I became a butoh artist. Sorta. Kinda.

What if you can digitally map out, codify and archive dance movements? And what if, with a tweak of a knob or a press of a button, you can access and enact it?

That?s the premise behind Notion: Dance Fiction, Choy?s fascinating lecture performance that?s part of an ongoing project about muscle memory.

It?s all very Matrix-y. Plug in and voila! Instant Moonwalk.

Armed with his laptops, consoles and this afternoon?s collaborator, choreographer Joavien Ng, Choy presents the preliminary results of this unusual research.

In NDF, he reduces dance to, literally, a physiological tic, a muscle contraction brought about by electroshock. He aligns it to scientific developments stretching all the way back to the 1700s and to forays in contemporary art from artists like Stelarc and Daito Manabe.

Creating a programme that allows him to convert video images of dance pieces into electrical impulses, he sticks aforementioned pads unto his body and ?does? butoh artist Tatsumi Hijikata?s Summer Storm.

And then comes the fun part. He gets Ng to do the same thing. Using samples from his database of performances by contemporary dance choreographers, which are also projected onscreen, Ng does an Yvonne Rainer, a Vaslav Nijinsky, an Isadora Duncan, a Lin Hwai-Min, and even one of her earlier pieces.

Insider quips abound. A technical glitch during her Akram Khan moment sees her ?looped? (?The file is corrupted,? says Choy. A joke or a jibe?). She does a Jerome Bel?which basically entails doing nothing.

And then Choy complicates things, cutting and pasting, combining pieces: Rainer meets Pichet Klunchun, a Rainer, Klunchun and Merce Cunningham hybrid. A Frankenstein of dance.

Human agency is erased as dance becomes patterns filtered through machines. For some, the possibility is an ethical and artistic nightmare (what happens to genius? To chance?) For others, it?s a glimpse at a gamechanging breakthrough (I can become the next Messi! We can all become the next Messi!)

It?s a lovely debate to have, and indeed, a number of folks during the post-show discussion brought up questions having to do with one or the other.

But there?s something else going on here. If the title isn?t enough of a giveaway, the contrast between the crudeness and jerkiness of Choy?s earlier demonstrations and Ng?s rather fluid reenactments of some complicated movements should be enough of a hint.

You don?t have to try it out to see that right now, this proposition is really one for the future, but since I did, I?d have to point out that it can get pretty uncomfortable. Ng would have to be a masochist to go through all that. Heck, I don?t think the body?s even prepared for such abuse.

And that?s where the coolness of the piece really lies?that the two?have deadpanned their way through NDF, talking about and discussing muscle memory and all that scientific stuff, pushing a case for it, while at the same time interrogating it.

Seen in that light, NDF debunks its own arguments and proves its exact reverse: in the end, Ng combines all these different portions into one piece, without any outside assistance.

And through it all, we, the audience, are not so much deceived as made complicit by our very act of viewing in this continuous shuffling between fact and fiction.

While there is a twist to the proceedings, NDF is far from being a ?punchline? work. When it quotes the Rainer piece ?The Mind Is A Muscle?, you understand it not only in relation to the debate about where the art of dance really comes from, but also in relation to you sitting there and shaping your own cognitive experience of the show. Inasmuch as Choy and Ng are piecing together these mini-choreographies, aided by technology of otherwise, you are likewise doing the same thing.

Shocking, isn?t it?

FreedomPop ships its 4Genabling iPod touch case, lets us nearly go phoneless for $99

FreedomPop's gamble on free WiMAX data launched in beta at the start of month, but early adopters had to be contented with conventional hotspots and modems at first; those of us with a fixation on data-only cellular handsets had to keep waiting. We can stay slightly cooler-headed now that the provider is shipping its iPod touch 4G Sleeve. Shelling out $99 grafts a 4G hotspot to the back of the fourth-generation media player that gives it independence from WiFi as well as connection sharing with eight other devices -- at least, for anyone willing to burn through that 500MB of free monthly data in record time. About the only catches are the $10 per gigabyte overage fee and a design that's just slightly behind the times for iPod addicts. While some of us will still cling to smartphones for coverage or legacy reasons, others who mostly communicate through Instagram food photos could have that excuse they need to drop cellular phone service once and for all.

Update: Thanks to reader (and early adopter) Penn who pointed out that overages are $20 per gigabyte if you're on the free plan -- it's only $10 if you're a regularly paying customer.
