AFTERDEF Museum Introduces The TASTEMAKERS Art Exhibition ...

Johannesburg, South Africa, October 2012 ? Photography and Art Direction agency, AFTERDEF Museum, in partnership with Instant Grass and Miller Genuine Draft Beer, will be hosting a TASTEMAKERS Art Exhibition and Party at OST in the arts hub of Newtown in Johannesburg on 1 December. In order to begin a conversation about establishing a new breed of creative and business talent, this event seeks to bring various creatives, business practitioners, and the public together to foster the establishment of cross-disciplinary and cross-industry relationships.

?We believe an event such as TASTEMAKERS is important as it will provide a platform for emerging creatives to exhibit their art, while allowing established artists to solidify their brand standing amongst the public and fellow creatives,? said Lesedi ?Yves? Lesalaisa, the Creative Director of AFTERDEF Museum. ?Johannesburg is the home to some of the best creative/artistic minds and business minds in the country. We, as AFTERDEF Museum would like to capitalise on these minds by inviting them to an art exhibition and party where they can network and connect with one another.?

The TASTEMAKERS event is targeted at the creative who is the embodiment of the city of Johannesburg and the Miller Genuine Draft brand ? that is, an ambitious practitioner who knows how to have a good time responsibily. ?These are young, black, creative males and females who are students, graduates, practitioners and their business counterparts who share a common affinity for art, all things creative, pop culture and business. The audience consists of yet is not limited to photographers, radio personalities, models, musicians, copywriters, marketing and corporate communication practitioners and investment graduates who specialise in art.

TASTEMAKERS aims to foster relations between these creative and corporates using art, music and good beer as conversation points. The event will be divided into two spaces. The first is an art exhibition space that will house the works of visual artists. The TASTEMAKERS exhibition will feature cutting-edge works of art from illustrators, graphic artists, creative designers, photographers and musicians. The second space is a performance space which will house the actual party and performances by musicians. The entertainment on the night includes young talents like Neo S Nkwe, FratPack, 2LeeStark as well as a guest performance by South Africa?s current musical tastemakers Khuli Chana or AKA.

?We would really like to collaborate with various lifestyle brands which fit into the criteria we?ve outlined on the TASTEMAKERS event. We see the possibility of building a relationship which can be beneficial for all parties involved,? Lesalaisa added. ?We would like to have our sponsors? staff present at the TASTEMAKERS event in the different event brand partners. The partnership between ourselves and other lifestyle brands would be a step in solidifying the mantra that collaboration between brands is the new strategic communication gold.?
