Medifast, Greenspring Energy enter Baltimore Co. Chamber Hall of Fame

The Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce held its annual Hall of Fame awards dinner on Nov. 14.?

Michael MacDonald couldn?t hide his emotion during the Baltimore County Chamber?s Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Wednesday night.

?My brother would be smiling right now,? said MacDonald, talking about Bradley MacDonald, Medifast?s former leader who died this year of cancer. ?For me, he was my mentor, my best friend.?

The leaders of both Medifast and Greenspring Energy were honored during the chamber?s event at Hayfields Country Club. The event drew top business leaders and politicians from the county and beyond. Among those in attendance: Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz; former Congresswoman Helen Bentley; Francis X. Kelly, newly named chair of University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center LLC; Gilbert Kenney, CEO of Colombo Bank; Charles Fenwick Jr., president of Valley Motors Inc. in Cockeysville; and Barry Luciani, senior vice president at Susquehanna Bank.

Kamenetz thanked all three companies honored for choosing Baltimore County for their growth and dedication to Baltimore County?s business community.

Khurshaid Kazmi, vice president of operations for Pharmaceutics International Inc., a contract drug manufacturer, accepted the New Directions Award for its innovation in its industry.

Medifast and Greenspring Energy, a Timonium solar energy company, share more than a Hall of Fame berth in common. Both were recognized by Inc. magazine for being among the nation?s fastest-growing companies.

Greenspring Energy ranked highest among Maryland companies on Inc.?s 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in 2011, coming in at No. 15 with revenue of $10.5 million and growing 8,730 percent during a three-year period.
